Andrew McCoy

Dr. Andrew P. McCoy is Director of the Virginia Tech Center for Housing Research and an assistant professor of Building Construction and adjunct professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Virginia Tech. Dr. McCoy's research interests include diffusion of innovation in the residential construction industry, how innovation can contribute to affordability and sustainability, and the impacts of diffusion of innovative green building technologies on housing and energy policy. Dr. McCoy is the main author of many peer-reviewed articles on the subjects of innovation and affordability in residential construction. Dr. McCoy received undergraduate degrees in Architecture and Architectural History from the University of Virginia and an MS in Building Construction and a Ph.D. in Environmental Design and Planning from Virginia Tech. Dr. McCoy serves as Vice Chair of the Executive Committee of the National Consortium of Housing Research Centers and recent honors include the 2012 and 2011 Exemplary Faculty Award for the department of Building Construction and the Myers-Lawson School of Construction and the Virginia Tech 2011 Alumni Excellence in Outreach Award resulting in induction into the Academy of Outreach Excellence. Also in 2011, Dr. McCoy was the recipient of the ELECTRI Foundation's Early Career Award.

Marilyn Cavell

Ms. Marilyn Cavell is Co-Director of the Virginia Tech Center for Housing Research and a Research Scientist at Virginia Tech. Ms. Cavell has been with the Center for 20 years and is responsible managing Center operations. Her expertise is in research and data analysis, preparing proposals and publications, and project management and reporting. She completed her undergraduate work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received a Master’s degree in housing from Virginia Tech.
Dr. Ted Koebel

Dr. C. Theodore (Ted) Koebel is a Senior Associate with the Virginia Tech Center for Housing Research and Professor in the Department of Urban Affairs and Planning at Virginia Tech. Dr. Koebel directed the Virginia Center for Housing Research from 1990 to 2005 and continues in a consulting role. He has written numerous reports and articles on housing market trends, affordable housing policies, and economic development. He has worked extensively with developers, state and local agencies, and housing advocates in the provision of affordable housing and urban redevelopment. Dr. Koebel's current research focuses on sustainablity and diffusion of innovative technologies. He received a Ph.D. from Rutgers University.
